The Linux Foundation has just announced that Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, has become a Gold member of the foundation.
Alibaba Cloud is a contributor to many open source projects, including The Linux Foundation’s OpenDaylight Project and Xen Project. The company has also open sourced many of its own projects, including the Alibaba Kernel.
“As a Gold member of the Linux Foundation, Alibaba Cloud is committed to working more closely with the Linux community and empowering more developers around the world. We believe that with the collective efforts of many parties to support the development of open source, technology will become more inclusive and more beneficial to society,” said Hong Tang, Chief Architect of Alibaba Cloud.
“We’re gratified to see Alibaba Cloud intensify its involvement in open source and look forward to strengthening our collaboration with the company,” said Jim Zemlin, executive director, The Linux Foundation.
Other Linux Foundation Gold members are Accenture, Citrix, Dell EMC, Doky, Facebook, Hart, Panasonic, Renesas, SUSE, Toshiba, Toyota and VMware.
